Don Volunteers at Greek Summerfest

Don got behind the grills to serve up some delicious chicken souvlaki at this year’s Greek Summerfest.

Greek Summerfest is an 11-day summer festival celebrating Greek food, culture and music at St. Nicholas and Dimitrios Greek Orthodox Church at Boundary and 29th Avenue. Since 1987, the festival has celebrated the coming together of cultures and traditions, and now welcomes over 40,000 people every year. In addition to the delicious Greek food, visitors can enjoy family-friendly, live entertainment each evening, including a live band and performances by dance troupes from around the world.

Greek Summerfest is run by generous volunteers and summer students hired through the Canada Summer Jobs program.  The festival is free to attend and all proceeds from food sales are invested back into the community.
